PRIVATE ADHD Assessments for children & YOUND PEOPLE In Leicester, Derby, Nottingham & sheffield

Attention Deficit Hyperactivity Disorder (ADHD) is a neurodevelopmental condition that can affect children and young people in different ways, often influencing attention, behaviour, emotional regulation and impulse control. Difficulties may become more noticeable as academic and social demands increase.

A child or young person ADHD assessment can help provide clarity and understanding, alongside practical recommendations to support their needs at home, in school and in everyday life.

I provide private ADHD assessments and diagnostic services for children and young people in Leicester, Derby, Nottingham & Sheffield.

A comprehensive assessment considers a young person’s developmental history, current presentation and wider context, helping to clarify needs and guide appropriate support both at home and in school.

If you are also exploring social communication differences, you can read more about private child autism assessments here.

Initial 20-Minute Phone Consultation

I offer an initial 20 minute phone consultation with parents or carers to discuss the difficulties a child or young person is experiencing. From this, I will determine whether a full ADHD assessment would be suitable, or whether a different kind of psychological assessment or service may be more appropriate.

If you are seeking a private child or teen ADHD assessment in Leicester, Derby or Nottingham, please get in touch to arrange a phone consultation.

What happens in a private child or teen ADHD assessment?

My approach to offering a private ADHD assessment follows the National Institute for Health and Care Excellence (NICE) guidelines for assessing and diagnosing ADHD in children and young people.

Phone consultation

A 20 minute phone consultation with parents or carers to gather information about concerns, development and current difficulties.

ADHD screening tools

I will email ADHD screening questionnaires to gather further information, helping to identify whether a child or young person is likely to be experiencing signs and symptoms consistent with ADHD.

In-person child ADHD assessment

I will conduct a full ADHD assessment at my office. The assessment typically lasts around 2.5 hours and includes:

  • Developmental history
  • Medical and mental health history
  • Consideration of emotional, behavioural and learning factors
  • Completion of appropriate ADHD assessment tools, including the DIVA-5 where applicable

Written Diagnostic Report

A detailed written report is provided in a password-protected format, outlining findings, conclusions and recommendations to support the child or young person.

Optional Feedback Consultation

Parents or carers may choose to discuss the report and recommendations in a 50 minute feedback consultation.

MEDICATION

If medication is being considered, I can provide details of a Psychiatrist who is able to assess and prescribe ADHD medication.
